Zenda Mine

Located approximately 2 miles southwest of Loraine, in the Loraine Mining District, the Zenda Mine was first recorded active in 1904, though it is suggested that the first ore didn’t actually come out until 1909. There was a 10-stamp mill onsite and small amounts of ore were mined on and off between 1910 and 1922 when the mine was sold to the Zenda Gold Mining Company. At this time they installed a 150-ton ball mill and accompanying cyanide plant. Over the next four years, over 90% of the mines recorded output was produced. Little activity has occurred since 1928 due to many of the workings being badly caved in.
